I'm an enthusiastic, energetic, and warm caretaker with ten years of experience working with children. My experience includes working with Jumpstart, which is an Americorps program to prepare pre-school children for kindergarten. In this program, I worked one-on-one with a pre-schooler and participated in classroom play-time, where I learned about dialogic reading and active play techniques. These skills have been very helpful with the baby-sitting I do today! I also spent two summers as a group leader at Badger Sports Club, an athletic day camp where I was responsible for 25 to 30 children and several assistant counselors. I've been baby-sitting since I was 14 and especially in the last two years, where I've had the fortune of working with many wonderful families in Back Bay Boston. I also have classroom experience, both from high school and college (I used to be an education major), and personal experience as the Read more oldest of seven children. I have personal experience with developmentally disabled children, as my two brothers have pervasive developmental delays, and infant care.     My care-giving philosophy is that it's particularly important to establish bounderies with children while encouraging their natural creativity and curiosity. I'm a very playful and hands-on caretaker and believe that through play, children can develop the emotional, intellectual, and personal skils they need to be happy, successful and independent as they grow older. I'm particularly interested in toddler and preschool care, but have experience with and enjoy older children and infants as well.  I'm primarily looking for weekend and evening work for now, as I'm a part-time student, but would like a full-time summer position starting June 1st.
