My name is Melinda K. Montgomery, and I am currently a graduate student at Columbia University's Teachers College. Currently, I am certified to teach in Elementary Education for the state of North Carolina.  I am also a certified substitute teacher for New York City Public Schools.  I am studying to be a teacher of English as a Second Language. Basically, my time, life, and money--Columbia is not cheap! (; --has been dedicated to working with children (from infants of 6 weeks of age to 17 y.o. teenagers) and furthering their educational skills and cognitive development. Although I am twenty-three years old, I am the type of person who gets on the level of children and explores the world with them. To get an idea of what that means: Why not go outside to the park and swing on the swing to see who reaches highest? Why not see what happens if you Read more put a piece of tissue in a glass, and put it upside down in the water--does it get wet? If we have clean clothes, why not run in the rain and watch it fall on our heads? I would be more than a caregiver to a child, but an educator, and a play pal. I am not certified in CPR or first aid, but if any parent would require that, I would be more than happy to get those certifications. Hablo español con fluidez, también asi que si usted busque una persona que hable otro idioma, yo soy esa persona! (I speak Spanish fluently, so if you are looking for a person that speaks another language, I am that person).  Just send me a message, and we will see if something can be worked out.  Right now, I am really concentrating on finding a summer position from May until August since I plan to begin my teaching career in the city this coming September.
